Never-my-name and Isn’t-my-name

”When Never-my-Name lost her fairy twin Isn’t-my-Name, she thought she would never see her again. But, with the help of an ancient dragon and a blast of fiery breath, they are reunited.”

‘Never-my-name and Isn’t-my-name’ was a commissioned picture book I completed in 2022. Written as a poem, by writer Colin Stern, the picture book describes the adventure one fairy takes when she falls down a hole and into the den of a dragon. Meanwhile a concerned sister calls on pixie helpers to search high and low for the missing fairy.

'They were playing on the mountainside amongst the silver birch’

‘Never-my-name looked high and low…’

‘She called for fairy helpers..’

‘Upon his heap of gold…’

‘…my fairy Mum arranges the way I’m named.’

‘I’m rather up the spout.’

‘…Please excuse my fiery breath.’
